Leading Lights Helen Reed-McGregor and Dave Woodwards are once again organizing Rock On The Rec in aid of improved facilities in the local village hall.  As in 2004 it will also be in aid of the Dreamflight charity (50-50 split).

2004 saw Rock On the Rec, on Saturday 19th June, adding Ska to the menu of merriment. This year’s proceeds went towards Dreamflight, the British Airways workers’ charity for terminally ill children, in addition to further improvements to the village Hall.

The idea of an all-day charity rock event was conceived in 1999 when local band Pot Luck played at the Village Fete. This was a big hit and they raised over £3,000 in aid of the local village hall..

In 2003, we had Solstice Rock On the Rec, on the Summer Solstice, namely 21st June, and a Real Rock appeared in the Rec.  A solid granite standing stone with pictish inscriptions landed there on Weds. 18th June along with two smaller stones either side.

In 2000, it started off in earnest as Pop In The Park

2001 saw the same theme under a new title: Rock In The Rec

2002 enhanced the success in value-added form by naming it...
Jubilee: Rock in The Rec.
